What is the different designs when it comes to exhaust?
Well ive heard of X, Y, and H pipe designs but i still dont know what any of them do... Also how would the Dual, Single, and True Dual relate to any of those... Im looking to get something loud on my truck but i just have little to no idea what would be best, got a 1990 GMC Sierra with a chevy 350 engine
I honestly dont know what X,Y, and H pipes do but if you want to run duals on your truck, the easiest and cheapest thing to do is go to your local shop, tell them what you want, and they will give you an estimate. you will need to measure your tailpipe and see what diameter is. after you find that out, i would suggest a flowmaster super 44 muffler, single inlet, dual outlet. make sure the inlet diameter is the same diameter as your stock exhaust, and if you want loud and deep sound get 2.5" or 3" outlet diameter. tell the guys at the shop if you want your tips running straight out the back below your bumper, or you can get them exiting at the corner of the bumpers, which is called a 45 degree angle, or you could get the dual stock look which would be a 90 degree angle. 3" exhaust from muffler back will give you the best sound, and in my opinion, bigger tips make a deeper sound. i have 2.5" muffler back duals on my truck with 45 degree exits and my tips are 4" Outlet diameter, 20" long, and they look good. on your truck i would get the pipes 45 degree or straight out, but i would get 4"x20" tips, which are the same as what i have on my truck. they will give that exhaust the badass look and sound your looking for. by the way, my exhaust only cost me $260 muffler and tips included. good luck!
